Following negotiations in Riyadh, the White House has announced an agreement between Russia and Ukraine to ensure safe passage for commercial ships and halt military attacks in the Black Sea.
The agreement also includes provisions for the safe exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of Ukrainian children forcibly taken to Russia. Additionally, Kyiv and Washington have agreed to develop measures to prevent attacks on energy infrastructure in both Russia and Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Defense Minister confirmed the ceasefire but warned that any movement of Russian naval vessels in the Black Sea would be considered a violation of the agreement.
The U.S. played a key role in facilitating the deal and has pledged to help restore Russia’s access to agricultural and fertilizer exports while improving port accessibility. Foreign media reports indicate that both countries are committed to further peace negotiations.
