Petar Petković, the Director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government, has expressed frustration over the British Embassy’s congratulations to Kosovo following Kenya’s decision to recognize its independence. Petković directly addressed British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, suggesting that Kosovo’s recognition may soon face reversals.

“I suppose Ambassador Jonathan Hargreaves will congratulate Belgrade when the new revocations of Kosovo’s recognition occur. I know how much you care about international law!” Petković wrote in his response.

The British Embassy in Kosovo had previously sent out a message congratulating Kosovo for its recognition from Kenya, which was officially announced on March 26, 2025. This recognition marks a significant milestone for Kosovo after a five-year gap since its last recognition from Israel.

The announcement was initially made by former president Behgjet Pacolli and later confirmed by President Vjosa Osmani, who revealed that the official letter had arrived at the Presidency.
