Ukraine will send a team to Washington this week to advance negotiations on a broader minerals agreement presented by the United States, announced Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Monday via X.
The US administration wants Kiev to agree to give it a significant share of Ukraine’s future revenues from minerals, reports Reuters.
US President Donald Trump views this as a way to bring back billions in aid for Ukraine’s war against Russia. Kiev is concerned about maintaining its ally’s support but is cautious about giving up its wealth.
At the end of March, Washington presented Kiev with a significantly revised draft, much broader than a previous version that had been agreed upon.
