During Tuesday’s session of the United Nations Security Council, the United Kingdom reaffirmed its support for Kosovo’s statehood and welcomed Kenya’s recent recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
The UK representative at the UN encouraged all states that have not yet recognized Kosovo to do so without delay.
“As a supporter of Kosovo’s statehood, we welcome Kenya’s recent recognition. We encourage all those who have not recognized Kosovo’s independence to do so as soon as possible,” the representative stated.
At the meeting, the UN Security Council discussed the latest six-month report of the UN Secretary-General on developments in Kosovo.
“While the Secretary-General’s report highlights the pressure on Serbs in Kosovo, it also recognizes Kosovo’s successful efforts to recruit police officers from the Serbian community. We regret that judges and prosecutors from non-majority communities have not sought to return to Kosovo’s institutions,” the UK representative said.
The United Kingdom also reiterated its stance, calling for a review of UNMIK’s role in Kosovo.
