Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the heroic fall of Kosovo’s martyrs transformed into a sublime rise for the nation’s brighter future, rooted in the ideals of the national renaissance, the dreams of the youth, the needs of the people, and the aspirations of children.
Through a Facebook post, Kurti shared that he paid tribute today on the 26th anniversary of the deaths of Dalip Behra and Bekim Gashi at the Memorial Complex of Martyrs and the site of their fall in Rreze near Krusha e Madhe. He also visited Sllatinë in Kaçanik, where on April 13, 1999, Serbian forces brutally killed six martyrs.
“In the 26th anniversary of the fall of Dalip Behrë and Bekim Gashi, we paid homage at the Martyrs’ Memorial Complex and their place of sacrifice in Rreze of Krusha e Madhe. As members of the 124th Brigade of the Pashtrik Operational Zone of the Kosovo Liberation Army, they gave everything they had, including their lives, so that we may live free and enjoy our state as a republic,” Kurti wrote.
He continued toward Sllatinë, where the following martyrs were killed: Hysen Elezi, Naim Beka, Ramadan Xhokli, Agim Matoshi, Shaban Elezi, and Avni Shehu. Thirteen martyrs were also brutally murdered, including Qemajl Deda, Rrahman Lami, Shuqeri Alili, Brahim Lami, Sabri Salijaj, Hebib Lami, Kemajl Salijaj, Mahmut Caka, Izahir Salijaj, Jakup Caka, Nazmi Elezi, Ilir Caka, and Dr. Vesel Elezi.
Kurti emphasized that the sacrifice of these heroes became a cornerstone for the continuous progress of the Albanian nation.
