Today’s Assembly session was closed due to the lack of resignations from acting ministers of the current government cabinet, said Eugen Cakolli from KDI.

He emphasized that the main reason for the failure of today’s session was the lack of sufficient numbers to vote on the report verifying the mandates of the newly elected deputies.

“In fact, I believe there are two main reasons — including the lack of numbers, and secondly, what I believe is the most critical issue: the existence of a conflict regarding the mandates of at least 16 newly elected deputies in this legislature. Notably among them is Prime Minister Kurti, along with 15 other ministers, who had not yet submitted their resignations from the government,” he stated.

Cakolli also clarified that there is no need for the President to intervene at this stage. According to him, it is sufficient for Dehari, in his role as the presiding officer of the session, to send out invitations to the deputies for the next session, which could take place as early as tonight, and no later than Thursday.

“In fact, the President of the country has fulfilled her legal and constitutional duty by calling the constitutive session. From this point on, the management and progress of the session are the exclusive responsibility of Dehari, as the presiding officer, naturally in consultation with all parliamentary forces. The next session should be called no later than Thursday, but of course, that doesn’t rule out the possibility of it being held tonight, provided the necessary numbers are secured,” he added.
