On the 26th anniversary of the Poklek Massacre, President Vjosa Osmani welcomed the families of the victims in a meeting, reaffirming the Kosovo government’s commitment to justice and remembrance for those who lost their lives in the horrific event.

In her remarks, President Osmani highlighted that the massacre, in which 54 civilians were killed by the Serbian regime in 1999, remains a painful chapter in Kosovo’s history. She emphasized that it is not only a tragedy for the families of the victims but also a wound that remains open for the entire society.

The Poklek Massacre is an everlasting reminder of the pain we carry, but also of the urgent need for justice,” said Osmani. “It is both an institutional and moral obligation for us to ensure that those responsible for these crimes are held accountable.”

Osmani further assured the families that Kosovo continues to advocate for justice on international platforms. She expressed that this remains a top priority in Kosovo’s ongoing diplomatic efforts. “We will continue to raise our voices in every international forum to demand justice, in honor of the victims and for a future of peace and dignity.”

The President made it clear that such crimes will never be forgotten. “Our commitment to justice remains steadfast, and we will not stop until those responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians in Poklek face the full force of the law,” she concluded.
