Serbian politician Dragan Šormaz sparked political discussion on Saturday by stating that all members of the Serb List, the main political party representing Serbs in Kosovo, have officially sworn an oath in the Assembly of Kosovo—an oath that includes defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Šormaz wrote:

“All MPs from the Serb List, i.e., all of Vučić’s MPs, have signed the oath in the Kosovo parliament! Among other things, they SWORE to defend the REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO and its sovereignty and territorial integrity! I have nothing against it, just saying!”

The statement has already drawn attention in both Prishtina and Belgrade, as it highlights the political paradox of Serb List deputies—aligned closely with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić—functioning within Kosovo’s institutions while officially recognizing its constitutional framework.

The issue of Serb List participation in Kosovo’s governance has long been contentious, particularly in light of Serbia’s non-recognition of Kosovo’s independence. This revelation could reignite debates on the legitimacy and implications of such participation within Serbian political circles.
