President Donald Trump ordered all flags to fly at half-staff as a “mark of respect for the memory” of Pope Francis, who passed away today.
The order applies to “all public buildings and grounds, all military posts and naval stations, and all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset on the day of interment,” Trump wrote in the proclamation, according to CNN, as reported by Rks News.
He also included “embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations of the United States.”
On the South Lawn of the White House, where the annual Easter Egg Roll was taking place, the American flag atop the White House was seen flying at half-staff on Monday morning.
