The Municipality of Prishtina has issued a detailed statement regarding yesterday’s traffic congestion. Several reasons have been provided as to why the city’s roads were heavily congested, especially in the late afternoon.
“Yesterday, the entrances and roads of Prishtina were heavily congested, and we fully understand your frustration and anger. With the improvement of the weather, we have started some short-term rehabilitative interventions in various areas of the city to improve road infrastructure and enhance safety for everyone: 🚧 Roadworks include:
- Malush Kosova St. – under rehabilitation, open with traffic obstacles
- Don Shtjefën Kurti St. – closed for traffic
- Nimete Progonati St. – closed for traffic
- Agim Ramadani St. – intervention to repair damaged sections
🚧 Sewer System Work:
- B/C road, where one lane in the exit from B and one lane in the entrance to C are temporarily closed.
However, we also had some unforeseen situations. From 16:00 onwards, 7 traffic accidents were recorded across the city at the following locations:
- Flamuri Roundabout
- Ibrahim Lutfiu St.
- Isa Kastrati St.
- Xheladin Rekaliu St.
- Vicianum
- Bill Clinton St.
- Ramiz Cernica St.
These incidents all contributed to heavy congestion and significant delays in traffic.
We understand your concern, but every intervention we are making is in service of a safer, quieter, and more functional capital. Thank you for your understanding and patience,” the statement concludes.
