In the grand ceremony marking the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican, attended by over 400,000 people and numerous world leaders, some prominent political figures faced criticism for disregarding dress code protocols.
Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Joe Biden were accused of lacking respect for the event, as they failed to follow the established dress code, which required formal black attire. Trump wore a dark blue suit and tie, Biden opted for a blue tie, while Zelensky appeared without a tie altogether.
Meanwhile, other world leaders adhered strictly to the dress code, wearing black suits, shoes, and socks, in a sign of respect for the late Pope.
The ceremony, which began at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Square, concluded shortly after 1:00 PM with the burial of Pope Francis in the Santa Maria Maggiore church—making him the first Pope since Pope Leo XIII not to be buried within the Vatican.
Pope Francis, known for his humble and simple lifestyle, had requested to be buried in a plain wooden coffin, with his regular orthopedic shoes.
