The Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, participated in the joint dinner of European leaders following the conclusion of the European People’s Party (EPP) Congress.
According to a statement issued by LDK, Abdixhiku used the opportunity to formally call on the five remaining European Union member states that have not yet recognized Kosovo to do so, reaffirming Kosovo’s commitment to European values.
Present at the dinner were high-profile EU figures, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, newly appointed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, and leaders of other EPP member parties.
Abdixhiku highlighted Kosovo’s achievements in democratic reform, economic development, and human rights advancement, presenting them as concrete evidence of the country’s dedication to European principles.
He also expressed serious concern over Serbia’s continued interference in the internal affairs of the sovereign Republic of Kosovo, urging European leaders to recognize and support Kosovo’s efforts to consolidate its statehood.
“Chairman Abdixhiku reaffirmed his belief that Kosovo will continue to move forward and ultimately triumph, as it always has,” the LDK statement concluded.
