U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to dismiss his National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, and names of potential replacements have already emerged in American media.

According to Politico, one of the candidates is Richard Grenell, Trump’s former Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue.

In addition to Grenell, another contender for Waltz’s position is Steve Witkoff, who was initially appointed by Trump as Special Envoy for the Middle East, and later tasked with addressing the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Witkoff is known for his pro-Russian views and support for ending the war based on the conditions set by Russian President Vladimir Putin for Ukraine and the United States.

Other notable names on the list include Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller—widely recognized for his far-right views, frequently expressed on social media—and Sebastian Gorka, a national security expert.

Waltz was dismissed following a series of scandals and blunders, the most notable being a group chat on the Signal messaging app, in which he accidentally added The Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg.

Initially, Trump stood by Waltz, but the scale of the scandal appears to have ultimately cost him his position in the administration.
