The Group for Legal and Political Studies (GLPS) has raised concerns that the failure to establish new institutions in Kosovo could jeopardize millions of euros earmarked for the country under the European Union’s Growth Plan.

In a press conference on Friday, GLPS researcher Besar Gërguri stated that the funds allocated for Kosovo are at risk of returning to square one.

The disbursement of pre-financing funds for Kosovo is contingent on the ratification of two international agreements in the Assembly an action currently impossible due to the failure to constitute the ninth legislature.

The Growth Plan is a new EU framework designed to accelerate reform and European integration across the region. It links reform efforts to direct financial contributions from EU funds to national budgets and investment projects. Through the implementation of these reforms, Kosovo stands to benefit from up to €882.6 million in EU funds of which €253.3 million are grants and €629.3 million are long-term loans.
