Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Social Democratic Initiative (Nisma), stated today that his party will not support a proposal they believe violates parliamentary procedure.

Speaking ahead of the continuation of the constitutive session of the Assembly, Limaj emphasized that a secret vote could have been acceptable if proposed from the beginning, but not at this stage of the process.

“We cannot vote on something that contradicts parliamentary practice. If the process had started with a secret ballot, that would have been acceptable under both the rules and the law. But once an open vote has begun, it must end that way. We want both the law and parliamentary practice to be respected,” Limaj declared.

This statement comes amid ongoing deadlock in Kosovo’s Parliament over the election of the Speaker.
