The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has filed an indictment against S.S. for the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population, accusing him of participating in the killing of nine Albanian civilians during the Kosovo War.
According to the indictment, the incident took place on April 6, 1999, in the village of Reznik, Vushtrri. The defendant allegedly acted together with other members of Serbian forces and S.T., who has already been convicted by the Basic Court in Prishtina.
The Special Prosecution stated that, according to the indictment, some of the victims were burned alive, while others were burned after they had already been killed.
The indictment further alleges that S.S., acting jointly with armed individuals, entered the homes of Albanian families, looted their property and subsequently set the houses on fire.
The case represents another attempt by Kosovo’s judicial authorities to establish accountability for crimes committed against civilians during the 1998–1999 Kosovo War.
