The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has traveled to Moscow to participate in the Victory Day Parade on Red Square.
Vučić has also planned a bilateral meeting on May 9 with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Kremlin announcements.
The Presidency of Kosovo has reacted to this visit, stating that Vučić’s trip to Moscow confirms his ideological alignment with an autocratic and aggressive regime like Putin’s.
Bekim Kupina, advisor to President Vjosa Osmani, declared that the visit is a clear sign of Serbia’s alignment against Euro-Atlantic values and principles, and possibly a sign of continued destabilizing actions by Vučić in the region.
“The visit of the former minister under Milošević, Vučić, to Moscow confirms not only his ideological closeness to an autocratic and aggressive regime like Putin’s, but also Serbia’s orientation against Euro-Atlantic values and principles. It is also an indicator that Vučić will continue destabilizing actions against our region, with Moscow’s blessing,” said Kupina.
“This visit should serve as a wake-up call for all those European representatives who continue to unconditionally support Vučić in the hope that he will return to the West. Vučić in Moscow, in full service to Putin, is also the result of appeasement policies pursued by many Western politicians toward him, ignoring his destabilizing actions toward neighboring countries that resemble those of the 1990s.”
