The Minister of Information for Pakistan-administered Kashmir stated that 11 people were killed, including a child, and 56 others were injured in “intense” Indian shelling overnight along the Line of Control (LoC).

“Last night, intense shelling by the Indian side occurred at more than five different locations along the LoC,” said Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah on Saturday.

“As a result, 11 people, including a child and four women, lost their lives and 56 others were injured.”

He added that so far, 1,014 people have been displaced from the LoC—the de facto border that separates Indian- and Pakistani-administered parts of the disputed territory, which has been a hotspot in recent hostilities—into safer areas, CNN reported, according to Klankosova.tv.

In Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Indian shelling damaged 235 homes, 29 of which were completely destroyed, Shah said. He added that two small hospitals along the border line were also targeted by Indian shelling, causing partial structural damage to the buildings.

The latest confrontation between India and Pakistan continued on Saturday, with Islamabad launching a military operation in retaliation for what it called Indian attacks on its military bases overnight. The Indian army stated that it had “effectively responded” to Pakistan’s operation.
