Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has appointed former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Agron Limani, as the chair of the Government Commission on Missing Persons.
Kurti announced the appointment through a Facebook post, stating that he has known Limani for more than two decades and that they have worked together in efforts to seek justice.
“ I have known Agron for more than two decades, and together we have organized actions in pursuit of justice, including the one in 2004 in front of UNMIK offices, when we published the names of 56 individuals suspected of crimes related to the Krusha e Vogël massacre an action for which he was arrested,” Kurti wrote.
Limani lost his brother, father, uncle, and cousin during the war. His father, uncle, and cousin are among the 60 people still listed as missing from the Krusha e Vogël massacre.
Kurti said that despite obstacles and what he described as continued obstruction by Serbia, Kosovo remains committed to seeking the truth and determining the fate of those who disappeared during the war.
“Despite the obstacles and continued obstruction by Serbia, we remain determined and unwavering in our efforts to seek the truth, clarify the fate of each of our loved ones who were forcibly disappeared during the last war, and ensure that justice is served,” Kurti stated.
