Policeman Arrested in Gjilan on Suspicion of Domestic Violence

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) announced on Saturday the arrest of a police officer in Gjilan under suspicion of committing domestic violence.

According to the IPK’s statement, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, and upon receiving the information, IPK investigators immediately intervened, visited the scene, and launched a formal investigation.

The victim has been provided medical treatment, while the suspect has been detained for 48 hours by decision of the prosecutor. As part of both the administrative and investigative procedures, the officer has also been suspended from duty in the Kosovo Police, based on IPK’s recommendation.

“After receiving the information, IPK investigators went to the scene and took the necessary investigative actions, while the victim was taken for medical treatment. Following the initial investigative steps, the competent prosecutor was consulted and ordered a 48-hour detention for the police officer. In connection with the same case, as part of the administrative and investigative procedures, the officer has been suspended from the Kosovo Police upon IPK’s recommendation,” the IPK statement reads.

IPK further stated that, in coordination with the Prosecution, they will continue efforts to fully clarify the case.
