Memli Krasniqi, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), sent a strong message amid Kosovo’s ongoing political deadlock. After the 16th failed attempt to constitute the Assembly, Krasniqi stated clearly that Vetëvendosje’s candidate for Speaker, Glauk Konjufca Haxhiu, will never secure the required 61 votes to be elected.

Krasniqi urged Vetëvendosje to change their candidate to break the parliamentary impasse, emphasizing that persisting with Haxhiu’s candidacy will only prolong the crisis.

Ahead of the scheduled meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, Krasniqi said that the PDK will present a formal request for the “unblocking of institutions” to move Kosovo forward. He expressed the party’s willingness to contribute constructively but underlined that progress depends on the cooperation of all political forces.

“We are attending with the hope and determination to contribute, but it also depends on other parties. Kosovo urgently needs functioning institutions,” Krasniqi said in front of the media.

The PDK leader highlighted the necessity of moving beyond political stalemate to ensure the constitution of the Assembly and to open the path for forming a new government. He also warned against falling into mere optimism or pessimism, insisting that practical solutions are essential to end the crisis.

With political tension rising, Krasniqi’s statements underline the urgent need for dialogue and compromise to restore stability in Kosovo’s political system.
