Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described his closed-door meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House as “one of the best conversations” the two leaders have had, highlighting close coordination on Iran and broader regional security issues.
Speaking in a video released by his office following Tuesday’s meeting, Netanyahu said the talks reflected a strong partnership and shared strategic objectives.
“It was a conversation marked by partnership, mutual support, and a shared understanding of our common goal of ensuring that Iran will never obtain nuclear weapons, as well as achieving other shared objectives,” Netanyahu said, according to CNN.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, was attended by senior officials from both the U.S. and Israeli governments but was not open to the press.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the discussions as “positive and productive.”
An Israeli official said the two leaders also discussed expanding U.S.-Israel cooperation and explored a range of opportunities and developments across the Middle East.
The meeting comes as Washington and Jerusalem continue close consultations on regional security, Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and ongoing developments in the Middle East.
