The Islamic Community of Kosovo (BIK) has called on citizens to participate in the “March for Freedom”, scheduled to take place in Prishtina on September 12, in support of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) who are being held in The Hague.

The call was issued on the recommendation of Naim ef. Tërnava, the Grand Mufti and head of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, and was conveyed to mosques across Kosovo during Friday prayers.

Mufti Tërnava expressed his support for the initiative and recommended that worshippers participate in the march as a sign of solidarity and support for former KLA fighters.

The message delivered during Friday’s sermon described the event as a civic gathering in support of freedom, justice, dignity and collective national memory, as well as in support of former KLA leaders.

This is a civic gathering in support of freedom, justice, dignity and our national memory, as well as in support of the former KLA leaders. Let us be united, calm and dignified. Let us demonstrate that we do not forget the sacrifice of those who contributed to the freedom of Kosovo, and that our demand is for justice and fair treatment,” the message stated.

The March for Freedom is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Skënderbeu Square in Prishtina, with organizers calling for a peaceful and dignified demonstration.
