The European Parliament has lowered its flags to half-mast in a gesture of solidarity with Poland following the deadly attack that left six people dead and 16 injured.

The announcement was made by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, who said that the institution she leads stands alongside Poland in mourning the victims, BBC reported.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Poland’s Ministry of the Interior confirmed that two days of national mourning had been declared in the country, to be observed on Sunday and Monday.

The mourning period follows Saturday’s attack, in which six people were killed, including four Polish nationals, one British national, and a woman whose nationality has not yet been disclosed.

Another 16 people were injured in the attack, while the suspect remains in critical condition. Two police officers who were also injured are reported to be in stable condition, according to local media.
