The President of the European Council, António Costa, during his visit to Tirana on Thursday, stated that the European Union enlargement process is entering a new phase, Rks News reports.
In a post on social media platform X, where he appeared alongside Western Balkan leaders, Costa emphasized that efforts toward EU membership must be based on two key principles: consistency and trust.
“Consistency – from the EU in keeping enlargement at the top of its political agenda. And steadfastness from partners in aligning with our values and implementing reforms,” he said.
“Trust – which can only be built through open dialogue. Internally, among regional partners, and with EU institutions and member states,” Costa added.
