The renowned European outlet Politico.eu has described Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama’s hosting at the European Political Community Summit in Tirana as “strange”, focusing particularly on his use of Artificial Intelligence to present European leaders as babies in a humorous video montage.

According to Politico, the AI-generated video turned European heads of state into baby versions of themselves, sparking mixed reactions. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reportedly burst into laughter, while Danish PM Mette Frederiksen watched enthusiastically. In contrast, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan remained stern, offering only a slight smile when his baby version—complete with a tiny moustache—appeared on screen.

During her speech, Meloni publicly thanked Rama, saying the video “made me feel young again,” suggesting the lighthearted moment had some success among the attendees.

The article speculates that the AI video was likely Rama’s own idea, calling him a “quirky figure” with a well-known artistic past—he once lived in France as a painter—and highlighting his charismatic and unconventional persona.

Adding to the unusual welcome, Rama greeted leaders wearing sneakers and knelt with delight when Giorgia Meloni arrived.

Yet, despite the eccentricities, the summit’s agenda was anything but playful. European leaders gathered in Tirana with a serious goal: to intensify pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin through new sanctions, while peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow resume in Istanbul.

The summit underscores a dual narrative: on one side, a host with flair for the dramatic, and on the other, a continent grappling with war and geopolitical tension.
