Full post:

Rest in peace, Dad!

Today, the mourning came to a close.

Family, friends, and loved ones from all over came to offer their condolences and share our sorrow.

Your schoolmates and fellow students came. They told us you were one of the best. They also shared the hardships of those times—from walking kilometers on foot from deep within Kishnapole, to taking a week’s worth of bread from home that was stale by the second day and often moldy by the fifth—because the economic conditions were so harsh.

Your colleagues from when you were a teacher also came, as did your former students—many of whom now have gray hair. They told us not only were you a master of the subjects you taught, but also a true educator, encouraging each person to become the best version of themselves.

Your coworkers from the oil factory came too, sharing stories of the good working relationships you had. There were even stories of times when you were denied promotions because of your integrity and principled stance. They recalled when you and others were forced out of work under repressive measures.

Even colleagues from the Ministry of Finance came—many of whom are now my colleagues.

Your many friends from retirement years also made sure to come. They spoke of your conversations, the plans you made together, and the jokes you shared. They told us you were a calm and kind person, someone whom no one could remember ever uttering a harsh word.

These stories are just fragments of your character, but over these past days, they have brought us comfort—knowing that others had come to know you, even in part, as we, your children, knew you.

You and Mom left us earlier than we expected. We still had plans together. But know that you fulfilled your mission as far as we, your children, are concerned. Now it’s up to us to carry on the path, learning to live with the pain.

We love you, and we will always remember you!

P.S. Don’t forget to say hello to Mom when you see her.
