The multinational military exercise “Defender Europe 25”, led by the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), will officially begin on May 25, starting from Albania, and will run until June 9. It is one of the largest and most complex military drills in Europe and Africa in recent decades. The exercise aims to enhance readiness, interoperability, and coordinated operational capability between U.S. forces, NATO, and partner nations.

“Defender Europe 25” includes a series of large-scale combat operations across multiple European countries, built around a NATO Article 5 scenario, which simulates the collective defense of allied nations. The training will focus on the protection of critical infrastructure, securing embarkation points, and executing offensive and defensive operations in strategic areas of Albania and Kosovo.

A central goal of the exercise is to demonstrate the rapid deployment capability of troops and equipment from North America to Europe, even in a complex and dynamic operational environment.

The drill also underscores Albania’s steadfast commitment to NATO allies and partners, showcasing the readiness of its Armed Forces to stand alongside strategic allies in the Western Balkans and across Europe.

“Defender Europe 25” sends a clear message to any potential adversary: NATO is united, prepared, and ready to defend every inch of its territory. Simultaneously, it reassures the public in allied nations that the U.S. and NATO remain firmly committed to Euro-Atlantic security.
