NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has called for a deeper partnership between the alliance and the European Union, emphasizing the need to reinforce security and defense mechanisms as threats facing the continent continue to grow.

In a post shared on platform X, Rutte expressed satisfaction over his recent meeting with EU defense ministers, during which discussions centered on increasing defense spending and boosting arms production.

“NATO-EU cooperation is essential in the face of today’s security threats. We discussed scaling up defense budgets and production, and what more can be done to ensure Ukraine has what it needs to secure a just and lasting peace,” Rutte wrote.

He further stressed that support for Ukraine remains a strategic priority, vital to ensuring long-term stability across Europe.

As Europe grapples with growing geopolitical instability, Rutte’s remarks reflect an urgent call for unified and sustained action among transatlantic allies to strengthen deterrence and support embattled partners like Ukraine.
