Vetëvendosje (LVV) MP Agim Bahtiri has strongly criticized the ongoing deadlock in the Kosovo Assembly, calling it a “total irresponsibility” on the part of the elected representatives. Speaking ahead of the 19th attempt to convene the Assembly, Bahtiri emphasized that MPs must make decisions in the interest of the people, regardless of political affiliation.
“It’s a major mistake being made by the political parties. MPs were elected by the people to make decisions, not to paralyze the institutions,” Bahtiri said.
He pointed out that LVV has shown consistency and willingness in voting to establish Assembly bodies, in contrast to other parties, which he accused of obstructing the process.
Bahtiri reaffirmed LVV’s readiness to make compromises, particularly with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK):
“We’ve called on LDK to form a joint government with us because the country needs stability. Albulena Haxhiu is the most voted woman in the country and is well-qualified. I don’t understand why anyone would try to deny her that right.”
Today’s session, the 19th in a row, will be another key moment in testing the political actors’ ability to overcome the institutional crisis and move forward with forming a new government.
