Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), met today with the new Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Gerard McGurk, in an introductory meeting focused on political cooperation and democratic development.

Abdixhiku welcomed the ambassador to his new role, wishing him success in his mandate, and praised the long-standing contribution of the OSCE to Kosovo’s institutional and democratic development.

According to the LDK’s statement, the conversation centered on the current political landscape in Kosovo, the challenges and opportunities ahead, and the crucial role the OSCE continues to play in supporting the country’s democratic structures.

“Chairman Abdixhiku presented LDK’s vision for addressing Kosovo’s political situation, including his proposal for the formation of a unity government,” the statement said.

Abdixhiku expressed deep appreciation for the OSCE’s long-term commitment to Kosovo, particularly in areas such as strengthening democratic institutions, human rights protection, rule of law, and electoral processes.

The two parties also discussed further deepening cooperation between the LDK and the OSCE, especially in promoting civic engagement and democratic participation.

“Chairman Abdixhiku reaffirmed LDK’s readiness to actively support continued collaboration with the OSCE and other international partners who back Kosovo’s democratic journey,” the party concluded.
