Non-constitution of the Assembly, Osmani: It Harms the Country’s Progress Toward the Euro-Atlantic Agenda

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met today with representatives of a group of non-governmental organizations engaged in the fields of democracy, rule of law, and institutional oversight, reports Rks News.

The meeting focused on the situation caused by the failure to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo, and the impact this situation is having on the functioning of democratic institutions and the lives of citizens.

According to Osmani, this delay harms not only citizens’ trust in state institutions but also the country’s Euro-Atlantic perspective.

“The delay in constituting the Assembly damages not only the credibility of institutions but also the country’s progress toward the Euro-Atlantic agenda,” the President emphasized during the meeting.

She reiterated her commitment to ensuring institutional functionality and acting in accordance with the Constitution for the benefit of the citizens of Kosovo.

“The President reaffirmed her commitment to guarantee institutional functionality and to act in accordance with the Constitution, in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.”

The Presidency’s statement further added:

“President Osmani expressed her readiness to continue being open to dialogue with civil society, in order to safeguard democratic order and strengthen the country’s representative institutions.”
