U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned Kosovo and Serbia today as an example of America’s role in preventing conflicts, while also signaling renewed efforts for peace between Israel and Iran.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, Trump wrote:

“During my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were heading toward a violent clash, as they have for decades, and this long-term conflict was on the verge of erupting into WAR. I stopped it (Biden has harmed the long-term outlook with some very foolish decisions, but I will fix it again!).”

The post comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, where Trump claimed that the U.S. is currently mediating talks between Israel and Iran, stating that “many calls and meetings are happening now”, and promising that “we will have PEACE soon.”

During Trump’s first term, Kosovo and Serbia signed the Washington Agreement at the White House in September 2020, focusing on economic normalization. The agreement also included Israel’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

However, the Washington Agreement has not been fully implemented, and some of its provisions remain unaddressed by both parties.
