Kremlin Warns U.S.: Intervention in Israel-Iran Conflict Risks “Terrifying Escalation”

A potential U.S. intervention in the conflict between Israel and Iran could lead to a “terrifying spiral of escalation”, warned Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, in a statement to Russia’s state news agency TASS, Rks News reports.

The warning highlights the growing divide between Russia and the U.S., who back opposing sides in the increasingly volatile standoff. While President Donald Trump has demanded “unconditional surrender” from Iran and is weighing military options, Moscow continues to stand firmly with Tehran, labeling it a strategic partner.

Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a strategic partnership treaty with Iran’s newly elected president Masoud Pezeshkian, expanding cooperation in defense and security.

Iran, in turn, has supplied Russia with Shahed drones, widely used in the war against Ukraine.

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory, calling them “unprovoked and cynical.”

In a parallel warning, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov urged the U.S. not to provide military aid to Israel, stating:

“Such a move would dramatically destabilize the entire region.”

As the geopolitical fault lines deepen, the risk of wider confrontation grows, with major powers locked in a dangerous game over influence in the Middle East.
