Tel Aviv claims to have eliminated a key figure of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard involved in arming Hamas.
Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, announced on Saturday that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) killed a senior Iranian commander during an airstrike on an apartment in the city of Qom, Iran, according to local media and Reuters.
According to Katz, Commander Saeed Izadi was responsible for financing and arming Hamas ahead of the October 7 attacks on Israel.
“This is a major success for Israeli intelligence and the Air Force. Justice for the dead and hostages. Israel’s long hand will reach every enemy,” he said.
Izadi was part of the elite Quds Force, a branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responsible for operations abroad and supporting Iran’s allied groups in the region.
So far, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has not officially confirmed Izadi’s death.
