Residents in parts of Prishtina and surrounding areas may face disruptions in their drinking water supply today, due to power outages and increased water turbidity in supply channels.
The Regional Water Company “Prishtina” announced that a power outage at the Badoc Water Treatment Plant — expected to last until 16:00 due to scheduled works by KEDS — has directly impacted water distribution.
As a result, the areas of Kishnica, Sushica, Badoc, and the villages of Janjevë and Gushtericë in the Lipjan municipality are currently without drinking water, as they are also experiencing electricity shortages.
Meanwhile, the Shkabaj Water Treatment Plant is operating at minimal capacity due to high turbidity in the Iber Canal, caused by ongoing maintenance work.
KRU “Prishtina” emphasized that although reservoirs are currently full, limited electricity may affect water distribution in parts of the capital and surrounding areas.
“Currently, reservoirs are full, but there may be water supply disruptions in Mati 1, Bregu i Diellit, Graçanica, and Hajvalia, due to the power outage in Badoc, where we are treating water using generators. Furthermore, due to ongoing work in the Ibër Lepenc canal, Drenas is currently not producing drinking water,” the company stated.
