British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has urged calm and a diplomatic solution amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, following recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

In a post shared on X, Lammy revealed that he has held talks with both his Iranian and Israeli counterparts, stressing the urgent need for de-escalation:

“Today I spoke with my counterparts in Iran and Israel to emphasize the need for de-escalation. I called for a diplomatic and negotiated resolution to end this crisis.”

Lammy reiterated the UK’s long-held position that Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon, adding:

“The U.S. has now taken action to ease this threat.”

While confirming that the United Kingdom was not involved in the American strikes, Lammy stated that the UK supports the U.S. actions.

This comes amid international calls for restraint following the escalation of hostilities between Iran, Israel, and the United States — a situation many fear could spiral into a wider regional conflict.
