During an emergency session of the UN Security Council, Russia strongly condemned the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling the actions a reckless escalation that could trigger unpredictable consequences.
Russia’s UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya stated:
“The United States has crossed every red line. These actions are irresponsible, dangerous, and provocative. Washington has opened Pandora’s box and no one can predict what new disasters may follow.”
The ambassador warned that the strikes risk igniting a broader regional crisis, calling for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts.
In response, U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shea defended the operation, placing blame squarely on Iran, which she accused of hiding its nuclear weapons ambitions and sabotaging good-faith negotiations.
“Iran has long obscured its weapons program and blocked our diplomatic efforts,” said Shea, who urged the Security Council to demand an end to Iran’s rhetoric and threats to annihilate Israel.
She emphasized the need for a unified international front to confront Tehran’s growing nuclear threat.
