Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, has fiercely denounced the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, calling them an “open act of aggression” and dismissing all US allegations as “legally unfounded and politically motivated.”
Speaking before the UN Security Council, Iravani stated that “the timing, nature, and scale of Iran’s response will be determined by the country’s armed forces”, signaling that retaliation is being carefully planned.
“This is a historical test for the Council and for the United Nations as a whole,” Iravani said, urging the international community to stand against what he described as “blatant crimes” committed by the United States.
He concluded his remarks with a direct appeal:
“Every responsible state and actor must rise to this occasion and unequivocally condemn these crimes.”
The Iranian envoy’s statements come as global tensions soar following the US and Israeli strikes and amid rising calls for restraint from multiple international actors.
