Acting Minister of Justice Albulena Haxhiu appeared in the Basic Court in Pristina today for a hearing in the case where she and former MPs Pal Lekaj, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, and Besa Baftiu are accused of possessing tear gas in the Kosovo Assembly in 2016.
However, the session could not be held due to the absence of former MPs Pal Lekaj, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, and Besa Baftiu. Judge Bujar Ahmeti stated that the court would take all necessary legal actions regarding the absent parties, as reported by “Betimi për Drejtësi.”
Only the accused Haxhiu was present in the courtroom, while Kadaj-Bujupi arrived after the session had concluded.
This court appearance comes just hours before the next constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, scheduled for 11:00 AM today. Haxhiu herself has been proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement as a candidate for the Speaker of the Assembly.
The case centers on the accusation that Haxhiu, Lekaj, Kadaj-Bujupi, and Baftiu possessed tear gas within the Kosovo Assembly during incidents in 2016.
