The United States has suspended the delivery of several air defense missiles and other munitions to Ukraine, due to concerns over the low levels of domestic military stockpiles, officials confirmed.
These munitions had previously been promised by the Biden administration as part of ongoing U.S. support for Ukraine in its more than three-year war with Russia. However, the freeze now comes as part of a strategic reassessment initiated by President Donald Trump, who has ordered a full review of American military aid to foreign countries, according to the Associated Press.
“This decision was made to prioritize America’s national interest after a thorough review of our military support and assistance to other countries around the globe,”
stated White House spokesperson Anna Kelly.
Kelly emphasized that the strength of the U.S. Armed Forces remains unmatched, adding:
“Just ask Iran,”
a reference to the recent missile strikes ordered by President Trump on Iranian nuclear facilities, signaling the U.S.’s continued global military dominance.
