President: July 2, 1990 – the day the foundations of the Republic were laid

July 2, 1990, the day the foundations of the Republic were laid.

Today, we proudly remember the Constitutional Declaration of July 2, proclaimed by 114 delegates of the Assembly of Kosovo in front of the doors of this institution, which were violently closed by the criminal regime of Serbia.

With this historic act, which preceded the Kaçanik Constitution on September 7, men and women defied the regime and gave voice to the people’s will for a Republic of Kosovo, opening the path toward independence and freedom.

This day of courage and vision remains the cornerstone of our statehood.

Eternal honor to the delegates of July 2 – the trailblazers of the dream for a free and sovereign Kosovo.
