Kosovo’s Ministry of Health has issued a public appeal to all public and private institutions to implement protective measures for workers and vulnerable groups, effective today. This comes as high temperatures are expected to prevail from July 3 to 10, 2025.

Based on recommendations from the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKSHPK), the Ministry emphasizes that the heatwave can have serious health impacts, especially on children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic diseases. Among the most vulnerable are also workers engaged in outdoor activities or in high-temperature work environments.

“We appeal to all institutions to implement the necessary measures to protect workers from the consequences of extreme heat. Care and responsibility during this period are vital for public health,” stated the Ministry’s official announcement.

Recommended Measures and Flexibilities

Health experts recommend, among other things, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM), frequent breaks for workers in cool environments, regular water consumption, and light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.

The Ministry also calls for the implementation of flexible working hours, allowing employees to start work earlier or even work from home.

The Ministry of Health announced it will maintain continuous contact with responsible institutions to monitor the situation and ensure strict implementation of these measures.
