Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to reports suggesting a possible halt in some U.S. military aid shipments to Ukraine, emphasizing that his country remains dependent on American support, The Guardian reports.
“We rely on the continuity of American aid… There are certain things Europe simply doesn’t have,” said Zelensky, specifically citing the Patriot air defense systems as crucial tools in countering Russian aerial attacks.
The Ukrainian leader also stressed the importance of strengthening domestic military production, describing it as an essential step in bolstering the country’s resilience and long-term defense capacity.
Regarding the latest developments and U.S.-Ukraine cooperation, Zelensky stated:
“I hope that perhaps tomorrow or in the coming days… I will speak with U.S. President Donald Trump about this matter.”
The comment comes amid growing concerns in Kyiv about the reliability of continued U.S. assistance following internal political debates in Washington and shifts in international support dynamics.
