Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attempts to downplay concerns by denying that Serbia is preparing for a military escalation against Kosovo. He states that “no soldiers have been deployed” and that nothing happens without the knowledge of the United States and China.
However, Serbia’s actions on the ground including armed terrorist attacks in north of Kosovo and Belgrade’s firm stance against Kosovo’s authorities contradict these denials. Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, has warned of a real and ongoing threat.
U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly declared that he prevented a violent escalation between Kosovo and Serbia, emphasizing that the situation was on the brink of war. These statements underscore the seriousness of regional tensions and raise questions about Belgrade’s true intentions.
In the absence of transparency and concrete actions demonstrating a commitment to peace, Vučić’s words must be met with skepticism and disbelief until proven otherwise.
