Despite not yet having formal candidate status, Kosovo will be included in the European Union’s next financial framework, alongside all other countries participating in the enlargement process.

European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, clarified that Kosovo will benefit from these financial funds regardless of its formal status. “As for Kosovo, it will remain part of these financial instruments. As you know, Kosovo is already part of the Growth Plan,” she emphasized.

EU’s Multi-Annual Financial Framework

The European Commission presented its multi-annual financial framework on Wednesday, the institution’s most significant budgetary document. A total of 2 trillion euros have been proposed for the period 2028–2034.

“Enlargement does not just make the European Union larger in area and population. Enlargement is about uniting Europe. By increasing support for all those who meet the membership conditions, we are on the right track to unite our Europe,” Kos stated.

The framework allows for review and modification if any other country joins the European Union by 2034. Currently, Albania and Montenegro are considered leading countries in the process and potential future EU members, with a real possibility of completing the process by the end of this decade.
