Bojan Jevtiq, the police lieutenant arrested under suspicion of espionage, was brought in handcuffs to the Basic Court in Prishtina today, where a pretrial hearing is scheduled to begin at 13:00.
Jevtiq’s arrest was announced yesterday by the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, following a coordinated operation with the Kosovo Police Inspectorate and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.
According to official statements, Jevtiq is suspected of passing confidential police documents to foreign actors. During the raid at his home in a village in Kamenica, authorities seized:
- Confidential documents of the Kosovo Police
- Several smartphones and USB drives
- A handgun and ammunition
- Cash: €10,000, 2 million Serbian dinars, and 600 Swiss francs
- Other materials now under forensic examination
Jevtiq had been serving as chief of operations at the “Dheu i Bardhë” border crossing, and the Police Inspectorate has recommended his immediate suspension.
The Special Prosecution is expected to formally request detention on remand, citing national security concerns.
Commenting on the case, Acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla stated that Jevtiq is the sixth person arrested for espionage in Kosovo:
“The same fate will await anyone who attempts to undermine the trust and responsibility entrusted to them in the police. We will remain uncompromising and vigilant against any effort to weaponize our institutions against our republic.”
