The Basic Court in Pristina is expected to rule today on the pre-trial detention request for Bojan Jevtiq, a Kosovo Serb police officer arrested on espionage charges on July 17.

According to Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu, the investigation has yielded substantial evidence to support the accusations. He confirmed the seizure of confidential police documents, an unauthorized handgun with ammunition, and a large amount of cash during a search of Jevtiq’s residence.

“Confidential documents issued by the Kosovo Police related to public security were seized,” Kodraliu stated. “We also found an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and significant sums of money that the suspect failed to justify—2 million Serbian dinars, €10,000, and 600 Swiss francs—which we suspect were gained through illegal activity.”

Jevtiq, who served as chief of operations at the “Dheu i Bardhë” border crossing, is alleged to have ties to Serbian intelligence agency BIA. The arrest was carried out in cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) and the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo. In addition to cash, classified documents and electronic devices were seized.

His lawyer, Miloš Nikolić, countered the prosecution’s request, urging the court to allow Jevtiq to await trial in freedom, supported by a €15,000 bail guarantee.

“Bojan Jevtiq has served in the Kosovo Police since 2002,” Nikolić said. “We presented arguments today supporting his release, emphasizing his willingness to respond to any official summons and cooperate fully with authorities. We also suggested house arrest with police monitoring as a more appropriate measure given the early stage of proceedings.”

The court has not yet issued a decision but is expected to rule within hours. Meanwhile, Prosecutor Kodraliu noted that the investigation may expand to include additional suspects, depending on future evidence.
