At least 28 people were injured early this morning when an unknown vehicle drove into a crowd in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
Casualties and Emergency Response
The LAFD reported that three victims are in critical condition, six in serious condition, and 19 in good condition. Footage from the scene shows multiple injured individuals on the street and sidewalk receiving medical attention, with some being transported on stretchers as police cordoned off the area, CNN reports.
The Fire Department coordinated patient triage and transport from the incident site, which occurred around 2:00 AM local time. A total of 124 firefighters were deployed to the scene. The LAFD had earlier reported “multiple injuries” at the accident site on Santa Monica Boulevard, near Hollywood, and confirmed an “unknown vehicle” struck a crowd, according to the American Sun. Initial reports indicated at least five people in critical condition, eight to ten in serious condition, and about twelve with minor injuries.

Video from the scene depicts several people lying on the road around a crumpled gray car that had mounted the sidewalk. The LAFD stated the incident occurred near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. Eyewitnesses also reported gunfire during a fight involving 15 people at the time of the incident.
