Morinë, Albania – July 20, 2025 — The Morinë border crossing, connecting Albania and Kosovo, is currently experiencing one of the busiest periods in recent years, marking a new high in cross-border movement during the summer season.
From July 1 to July 17, 2025, authorities processed 386,868 entries and 409,595 exits of individuals, with more than 250,000 vehicles crossing the border in both directions. This volume of traffic represents a significant increase compared to previous years.
The influx includes:
- Kosovar tourists heading to Albania’s coastline,
- Transit travelers from EU countries passing through Albania toward Kosovo,
- Diaspora members returning home for summer holidays.
To manage the surge, authorities have set up seven operational lanes, categorized by vehicle type, to streamline processing. According to officials, nearly 800,000 people have crossed the Morinë checkpoint in just the first half of July, cementing its role as a vital regional artery of movement.
Border officials face the daily challenge of maintaining security and speed, while travelers continue to demand shorter wait times and improved efficiency.
Additional measures have also been implemented across other border points under the jurisdiction of the Local Directorate for Border Management in Kukës, aiming to cope with the intense traffic of the summer period.
